Maltby Main Colliery, Yorkshire, 1981
Residency

In 1981 Paul Butler was for two months an artist-in-residence at Maltby Colliery in Yorkshire, initiated and funded by the Yorkshire Arts Association and the Arts Council.
He went underground with the miners for a half shift every day and worked the rest of the time in an improvised studio on the pit-top.
